Road Safety Line organised a special Road Safety Awareness Programme at Poornima University, Ramchandrapura, Sitapura Extension, Jaipur, focusing on faculty members and university bus drivers.
The programme aimed to create awareness regarding responsible road behaviour, safe driving practices, emergency response preparedness, and the collective role of educational institutions and families in shaping disciplined and safety-conscious youth.
Addressing the gathering, Road Safety Line Secretary Shri. Pratap Bhatia described the event as a unique and meaningful initiative because teachers and parents together play a vital role in shaping children’s behaviour and values. He emphasised that many road accidents involving youth occur due to negligence and the tendency to treat traffic rule violations as acts of smartness or bravery. Such behavioural patterns, he said, can only be corrected through proper guidance from families and educators.
Shri. Bhatia further highlighted that while laws and enforcement are important, true road safety begins with awareness, discipline, and responsibility developed at home, the “first school” of every child.
Chief Guest Dr. L. N. Pandey, Nodal Officer, Traffic Commissionerate, Jaipur, informed participants about several government road safety initiatives and public awareness programmes. He specifically explained the Good Samaritan initiative, under which citizens who help road accident victims reach hospitals are rewarded with ₹25,000 and a certificate of appreciation without unnecessary police harassment.
A highly informative CPR and emergency response awareness session was conducted by President’s Awardee Shri. Raj Kumar. Using simple language and practical examples, he explained the importance of immediate response during emergencies and encouraged students to visit Trauma Centres regularly for practical emergency response training.
The programme also featured an engaging interactive Question & Answer session where participants actively interacted with speakers. Road Safety Line distributed prizes to participants giving correct answers.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Shri. Manoj appreciated the importance of such awareness programmes and stressed the need for regular educational initiatives focusing on road safety and public responsibility.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Shri. Satish Chandra Derashri (IAS Retd.), President of Road Safety Line, who administered the Road Safety Pledge to all participants.
Poornima University honoured the dignitaries and guests with mementoes as a token of appreciation.
