85th Eye Check-up & Spectacle Distribution Camp

Road Safety Line (RSL), in collaboration with the Road Safety Cell, Office of the Transport Commissioner, Government of Rajasthan, successfully organised its 85th Eye Check-Up and Free Spectacles Distribution Camp near Radha Saral Bihari Temple, at the farmhouse of Shri. Subhash Arya, before Shivdaspura, Jaipur.

The camp was conducted to prevent road accidents caused by poor vision among commercial drivers, a factor that continues to contribute significantly to road mishaps across the country.

This camp was organised in the pious memory of the late. Smt. Bhagwan Devi Kathait, which was generously sponsored by her son, Shri. Ajay Singh Kathait reflects a meaningful social commitment towards road safety and public welfare.

The Chairman and Secretary of Road Safety Line, Shri. Satish Chandra Derashri and Shri. Pratap Kumar Bhatia, respectively, formally welcomed the sponsor and his wife with floral garlands and bouquets, expressing gratitude for their valuable support.

The Flying Squad of the Regional Transport Office (RTO–I), under the leadership of Shri. Jayant Sharma played a crucial role in mobilising truck and commercial vehicle drivers to the camp location, ensuring effective participation and maximum outreach.

A total of 135 drivers underwent comprehensive eye examinations conducted by experienced optometrists Shri. Jasvinder Singh and Shri. Anant Vikram Lakhotia.

  • Near Vision Spectacles Issued: 18 drivers

  • Distance Vision Spectacles Issued: 45 drivers

  • Bi-Focal Spectacles Issued: 30 drivers

Total Drivers Tested: 135

Based on the findings, 93 drivers were provided free corrective spectacles on the spot, while others were advised for follow-up or further medical consultation where necessary.

For the first time, driver details and medical observations were recorded digitally using Google Sheets, marking a significant shift from manual registers to structured digital data management.
This initiative will support:

  • Long-term data analysis

  • Improved follow-ups

  • Evidence-based road safety planning

Basic colour blindness testing was introduced at this camp under the guidance of Shri. Jasvinder Singh and Shri. Anant Vikram Lakhotia, using a specialised screening book. The results were recorded for future reference and analysis.

With the successful completion of the 85th Eye Check-Up Camp, Road Safety Line proudly achieved a major milestone. 🎉 A total of 9,000 free spectacles have been distributed since the inception of the programme. This achievement reflects the organisation’s sustained commitment towards vision care as a preventive road safety measure.
